Day two in Kalispell.

On day two in Kalispell, we visited Flathead lake.

In the morning, a golden line of sun came through our window. I laid my head against the bed springs, feeling like a little baby in a cradle. It was the first time in months I felt cozy enough to deeply deeply sleep and sweetly sweetly dream.

We decided to have IHOP for breakfast before driving to the lake. I ordered hot potato soup and the rest of the family requested breakfast-y items. I don't remember who but somebody ordered a strawberry waffle and it tasted just like cheesecake. (yum!)  On the drive to the lake, there were big trees that separated the road from the wilderness. They bloomed in Autumn colors like diamonds on a tree stump.

When we arrived, the air was soft and smelled like pine. I could feel tiny goosebumps traveling between my arm hairs, not because of wind or frozen air, it was the beauty of the lake that made me shiver. We didn't stay for long, but there was just enough time to look at pine cones and hike the trails with our dogs.

There is something in me that wants to feel like I can return to Flathead lake whenever I want just by closing my eyes.
