It's February. The sun cradles the porch while the city folk's grin at the weather. Every morning feels like Spring, I'd be surprised if little insects weren't pulling through the cracks in the dirt soon.
To celebrate the weather, I wore my favorite socks. When I wear them, it's as if I've taken the blue of the sky with sweet baby kites and stitched them to my feet..... I never thought I'd find socks that say "amy flying a kite" but I did... ^.^

Yesterday, I spent the night weeping. It was as if the moon was pulling at my eyes, and I just had to cry at the weight of it all. My hair was down, and knotted. My tired hands were clawing at my banjo. I wanted somebody to comb through my hair. I couldn't quite stretch my fingers to make a pleasant sound. It was as if the world was on my shoulders, and all of the weather's sunny shapes forgot about me.
It's funny how the world goes on. Whether you're pale and slow, the clouds will still part, the bud will still flower, and the clocks in the canteen will still roll. The day does not wait to turnover just because you're afraid of tomorrow. The hour does not pause for you to water your plants. The earth keeps wildly revolving, and no matter how long you weep, the sun still rises on the other side of the world.
After an hour or so of weeping, I feel much better. I think a few tears in the bucket, every so often, is the equivalent of chicken feed for the hen coop. Each drop of salt running down my cheek brings me consolation, it's as if I've been fed food or medicine. When Carter watched me after I cried he said "It's like you've taken a pill, or seen a god of some sorts."
Sometimes, I wonder..am I the only girl in the world soothed by tears?
What do you think about crying? Does it make you feel better? Is it therapeutic?
Does it make you feel bruised? Does it feel like a waste?
I'd love to hear your thoughts!
See y'all on the Sunny side.
you look adorable!

ReplyDeleteCrying is a way to release emotions. I think crying can be really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteDear Amy, I recommend you to read this blog post about emotional sustainability ,I think you might like it.:) http://papercastlepress.com/blog/2011/07/25/emotional-sustainability/
You really are a beautiful human being, inside and out.
Love
Adorable look Amy. And yes, crying is just another expression of emotions. Like laughing or screaming, the body can't hold it in. Our bodies are electric after all, and it's like that surge of energy. It has to go somewhere! <3

I adore this outfit, especially the socks and wedges combo...perfect!
ReplyDeletedimplesdiaries
This is very relevant 'cause I just cried my eyes out. Once in a while when something happens and I get upset and start crying, it's as if the tears are not just for what happened right before but for everytime I was feeling down but didn't cry. I do feel a bit better now :)
ReplyDeletebeautiful outfit, your socks are so cute and your shoes are brilliant!
ReplyDeletei feel the need every now and then to have a proper cry, it's good to get it out you feel so much better afterwards. you hold in so much emotion and crying is a great way to get it all out i think :)

Sometimes it feels wonderful to cry, to get it out of my system. But when I'm crying because of hurts running deep it only makes me feel wasted.
ReplyDeleteI do love your outfit. Especially your skirt.

ReplyDeleteOh my the colors are breathtaking. Those socks were really made for you!
ReplyDelete& you write so poetically it is very inspiring Amy.
Those wedges are amazing. Want a pair now. And I may actually try to wear my shawl like that- I was tired of it but you've inspired me.

Surely, you look adorable. But your words make you even more beautiful. xx
ReplyDeleteLovely outfit, I adore the colours and those striking wedges.

Such a gorgeous post.
ReplyDeleteI think a big ball of the eyes is necessary, it keeps us sane. If there is something really bothering me, after a good cry, I totally feel better and I have a better outlook on the situation. If I try to hold back the tears to 'stay strong' all the time, then I feel worse and bruised.
You are gorgeous, and so is your outfit. The touch of the shocks is so cute.

So glad to have found you.
ReplyDeleteI am following, and adding you to my blogroll this second, yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh
Besos.

I cry so, so... easily. Probably because of the emotionally distressing way I grew up. Very dramatic. Tears always make me feel better, which is unsurprising, crying is a natural mechanism to make you feel better. Tears are full of natural pain killers, that's a fact. Interesting huh?
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely pictures. I love the burgundy tights!

ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous! I love the poncho :)
ReplyDeleteSuper cute outfit. I love how you tucked the poncho in. Your blog is so pretty!! I love all the hand-drawn buttons and header and background!
ReplyDeleteI really only cry when I'm really upset, and afterward I usually feel drained and tired. I don't think crying really makes me feel that much better-- I do it reflexively, I guess, and not to feel better or purge myself.
nice on pink... i love your style... with the under tempeature on ur country, i think its good wearing 2 shocks..

amazing outfit. love the socks! and I am comforted by crying..I always wondered if other people were too.
ReplyDeleteIt depends on the reason of crying i think. There are times i feel really better and some others that i hate myself for crying for stupid and hurting(for me) things!

on LOVE with those shoes, i have a little giveaway on my blog if youd be interested in entering!
ReplyDeleteCrying is definitely therapeutic! I do cry. Rarely, but when I do, I let it all out and I feel instantly better. I think our souls are like a glass- it carries each drop of whatever everyday, and when it gets to that point of overflowing, we cry. You're not alone on this one :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck!

Ooh! I love your shoes so much! <3 And all the colors in this outfit are so perfect. I love it.
ReplyDeleteI cry easily, but I don't really like to. When I'm that upset I don't really like to talk about it except over text or email or something, and since I still live with my family, crying can, uh, raise attention? Lol. So I try not to. ;)
such a pretty outfit as always! lovin the socks!
ReplyDeleteI dont see crying as a weakness and sometimes it can be the only thing we can do when theirs nothing else to say.
I try not to cry in front of others cause i dont want them to worry about me.
If we werent meant to cry then dont understand why we have tear ducts.

I love the way you wore the knit cape. Such a new way to wear it. Those socks look adorable with tights and heels. And I would love love to rock a hat like yours. I hope the weather is still pretty and spring like for you!

ReplyDeletelove the shoes and you're just getting lovelier by the day. :)
ReplyDeletehow kismet that your socks are twins to your blog wallpaper! how suddenly i fell like combining powder blue with mulberry wine, & mauve. how tears can be joyful with release. how laughing through them can be a great elixir.
ReplyDeleteI just love the colors in this outfit! Your socks are adorable and so is your pretty hat.
ReplyDeleteI cry quite often for many reasons; sometimes I don't even know why I weep, but after I do I feel a million times better. And every once in a while, even if I'm not upset about anything, I'll hide in my bed and cry my heart out. I think it's a way of release for me...both a curse and a treasure.

I just read Maria Elyse's comment right above me and after reading what you both said I was reminded how I used to cry much more back in high school. I think it may have to do with having just so much more on my mind now I don't even want to stop and just lay down and cry- until the other night I don't even remember how long it'd been, and even then after all that stress I got tired after only about a minute. Glad that it helps you both though- it's def a healthy release. You look absolutely precious here as well, such a sweet idea w/ the socks over the tights & that shawl belted over the dress, a much more delicate look than my most recent shawl-as-a-top look & I'm loving it.
