nursery rhymes for an 18th birthday

Here I am.  Alive...and well.  My belly's endured mall walking, reggae dancing, and splashes of gin.

I've lived for eighteen years, felt heartbeats singing to wild weathers,

and after it all, I'm here.

On Monday, I awoke to birthday gifts dressed in polka-dot paper...  I ate pancakes dressed in strawberry jelly, eggs on fresh toast, and sipped Irish coffee.  The aura and tastiness of breakfast welcomed me into the new year.. 

The first gift I opened was a box of sweet perfume, sky-blue glitter, and this pink necklace..(Thanks boyfriend...)     My brother gave me smoky gray glitter(love you bro)..

The most precious gift I received was a heart necklace from my family. It's attached to a silver chain that holds my birthstone, and gems of glossy white.

 I know beautiful people.

After breakfast, I buried myself in hot water, washed my new-born skin, and allowed my messy hair to dry with the air...The mystical air. I don't know if it's just me, but there's something divine about a birthday. As if the suns settled differently, and suddenly the light burns brighter than ever before.    

I have a deep fondness for my birthday.   Not only out of vain, and having a day dedicated to my name. Mostly, I like my birthday for the way it makes me see the world.   Every year, Every birthday, it feels like angels, and ethereal creatures hang around me. It's as if they sprinkle gold dust on every seat I sit, and every stranger I pass.   Simply put, birthday's are magical. 

Any day of celebration hold it's pleasantness, whether it's christmas, new years, valentines,..  but there's something special about the day you were born.    

  Trust me, I've had hopeless birthdays...  On the eve of my tenth birthday, I spent a sleepless night, writing in my journal, tears dripped down my baby cheeks, and I was afraid of becoming a double digit number. 

7 years later, and I was begging for my 18th birthday..

Before the reggae dancing, gin sipping, messy hair fun... I spent the day with my sweet mother. She treated me to a shopping spree..  We galloped into the gates of Forever 21, and I found myself dresses, lace boots, pants, faux fur, and other heavenly fabrics....  

We ended the night drinking bellinis and not talking about the weather.. I'm precious because I have a good mother.. To have a mother of such warmness makes me feel satisfied.   Just to be a daughter to her or my father makes me feel victorious.  How could one live without my folks?(Some things I'll never know..)

Another thing I'll never know.. When will I catch sleep in the net of my bed?

My eyes are missing sleep, as is my body.

I think it's time to set sail into dream land... 

Before I sail,  I will lye awake thinking about the the bliss in a birthday,

and the beauty in every day of the year...
